ROBE A LA FRANCAISE

Using exclusively only hand-sewing techniques over the course of 3 months, this gown was constructed with 12 yards of teal brocade silk with a copper motif, using an 18th century Robe a la Francaise pattern from J. P. Arnold. With careful pattern matching, the elegant pattern is unobstructed on the Watteau pleats. Pictured with matching poka-dotted teal taffeta petticoat with a ruffled hem, worn over custom designed grand panniers and period appropriate stays.

Decorated with 10 yards of vintage silk lace to create the large and full engageantes. Trimmed with over 20 yards of vintage brass and cotton trim, gathered down the front of the gown, with large, statement bows of an icy-red silk taffeta on the stomacher and sleeves. Featuring hand embroidered, gold, fleur-de-lis on 10 matching buttons down the front of the stomacher.

Paired with custom designed shoes made in a matching teal color with miniature bows on the arch with a custom designed necklace with matching pearl-drop earrings.
